Having problems doing edging on Larkspur Shawl. Are rows supposed to be knit all the way across? Is pattern knit from right to left or left to right?

This is a top down shawl based on garter stitches and pattern is knit from right to left.

Hi Maria I am making the vellum cardigan from interweave knits spring 2015. I am stumped. I am on the left side. The schematic for the pattern says knit 12 rows and then break off yarn (6 in seed, 3 increase + 3 plain rows) The schematic says that the width is 16 inches. I don tip understand how it gets to be that width? Can you help? Thank you. Clarice
Hello Clarice,
12 rows of left side is just a part of underarm. You should work right side and then work from right to left across the back neck later.

I am having trouble executing the shadow join for 2 row striped knitting included in the pattern for your Lin Sweater. Holes are appearing at the join. What am I doing wrong?
Hello, Libby! Hope it’s not too late to answer. It’s a kind of simple optical trick. Just two different color yarn set on different joining point. If you have holes, no worries. it will gone after blocking.

I too have a question on the LARKSPUR SHAWL. When you knit the 173 sts and wrap the next st and turn, are you going back over the 173 sts or continuing on over the remaining 173 sts?

Knit 173 and w&t; That the row 1. It doesn’t need to back over.
You should knit 2 sts and w&t on the next row.
There are no errata on the pattern. So no worries about tiny st numbers on the following Shot-rows instruction.

I am wanting to make the Charvet Pullover but with a double seed stitch pattern. Do you have any suggestions of how I would do this?
Check the gauge and re-math to increasing. Garter and double seed, these are way different stitches in tension.
I am trying to start the Boxelder cardigan in 2013 knitscene. I don’t see how the closed toe Judy’s magic cast on will make an open hood!? Is there something I am missing?
Where is the opening?
When you knit socks, you should work in round. For hood, it’s work back and forth. Then you will see the opening on face side.
I guess when I made the 2 needles cast on, with the yarns in one hand they crossed each other and so the stitches were together. I will try again with different instructions. It is hard to describe in text!
