Celtic Duke: Sanquhar gloves in duke pattern with Celtic Cross

Finally, I have been upload Celtic duke pattern on my Ravelry store. Maybe It was almost 3 years ago. I made sanquhar gloves for D’Arcy’ birthday. He wanted to put Celtic cross on the back of hand because his last name is Cross. I tried to accept all his request and it turns fingerless gloves in duke pattern with Celtic cross. It was my first sanquhar project and still he loves it. But, it’s bit unsatisfied to me.

Last winter, 3 years later since I made my first sanquhar, some of the members in online KAL group start talking about sanquhar pattern. When they were mentions gloves I made, it looks unique and something different. I started to make my gloves. I changed a bit of construction from traditional sanquhar gloves pattern. I change height of little finger and tried to avoid gaps on adjoin fingers. Celtic knots around cross is clear then first one, etc…

I’ve got help from 5 amazing knitters. They knitted total 6 pairs of Celtic duke with two different weight yarn in two language English and Korean.

Upload this pattern on 22nd and It’s on sale 40% off until end of Feb in Eastern Time. Cupon code is GODUKE. Pattern page is here.

  • Conductive thread is for touch screens of your tablet or mobile device. It’s optional.

It’s almost 2 weeks after first day of new year. My middle finger of left hand is healing well. It’s still looked ugly but no more pain and I can knit and draw. I didn’t post much last year in this blog. But, I have bunched of stuff to show and share.

Last late summer, I got an offer to work with Vogue Knitting magazine and I worked with them happily. Deadline was quite tight, and I was afraid to knit sample used limited yardage. Time’s run fast and I found a magazine on my PO box last Friday.

I used lovely Koigu yarn Pencil Box Collection. I love math and mathematical shapes like triangle, Hexagon, and spiral. It’s always made me feel to solve puzzles. I wish to design more often inspire from those mathematical shapes.

Belloguardo Cardigan

© Interweave / Harper Point

Belloguardo cardigan is my newest design published on Wool studio Vol.5. My blog was so quiet last few seasons because of my health issue. I did knit as usual all the time but I didn’t get a chance to publish new pattern or even finish Objects. Things are getting better slowly and luckily get chances to work with some publishers and yarn company early this year. But I can’t post or show photos before the issue is published. So, I had to wait till right time.

Return to talk about this Belloguardo cardigan, It was so fun to work. I love the concept of the issue and always had a plan to make hoodie cardigan for myself. Like monk’s cloak. Deadline was quite tight. But, I enjoyed whole process.

© Interweave / Harper Point

The Belloguardo Cardgian is an avant-garde interpretation of a traditional monk’s cloak with a dramatic oversized hood and billowing side wings. The shape of this cardigan is engineered with a sturdy broken-rib stitch that adds texture and interest to the fabric. The cardigan is worked from the bottom up, starting with each wide peplum.

Wonderful FOs: Parallel module socks

I  had a Knit-Along Socks through last two months with Knitters in Kakao talk.

Here are Wonderful 27 FOs.

Korean blog is here.

I published Parallel module socks pattern a couple months ago. I had to update pattern almost 4 times within first week after I published. It wasn’t easy to write sock pattern in entrelac  technique.  I’m very happy and glad that many knitters love this pattern. They choose this pattern without hesitation and finished wonderful socks. It’s very thankful.

Parallel module sock pattern on Ravelry is here.

brickwork socks

I did upload brickwork socks file on my Ravelry store this afternoon. I designed color-work pattern chart 2010. its reminds me old PC game Brickwork. That’s the reason I named the sock I made.

When I wrote first sock pattern, I felt so difficult to find a way to express how built heel and gusset. I had get some help from old scadnavian sock pattern book. It wasn’t my own voice. So, I published first brickwork socks pattern as free until 2013.
Former sock pattern is no longer aviable as free.

I rewrote brickwork socks pattern in new view. I added unique heel and gusset idea in new brickwork socks. Also I used real sock yarn this time.

A pair of pretty socks made my feet and soul are happy.

Enduring Stripes

I made this beautiful Enduring Stripes Socks through last Monday to yesterday. It’s designed by Cat Bordhi on New directions in Sock Knitting (Interweave 2016). I have some left over sock yarn and it isn’t enough for a pair. This is a good design to use them.

I used each 30g of KnitPicks Storll tonel ‘High tea’ and ‘Pearlescent’,
This is the first time to knit Sweet tomato heel. W&t seems unique. It’s almost same as shadow w&t.

New directions in Sock Knitting에 수록되었어요.

I stated Sock Knit-Along with Korean knitters through kakao-talk. Kakao is a kind of messenger app. This Enduring stripses are not a KAL socks. But I need something to warm up.

Happy Knitting!

Winter park shawl

I’m back from long long absence. I am reboot this blog and would love to introduce my new design. It’s hard to say ‘new design’ honestly because it’s published early summer this year. I made a sample through last winter and published on Knitscene Handmade issue. Title of this shawl is Winter park. It’s worked from side to side in one piece, beginning at the left side corner. After the full height of the shawl is reached at the center point, the edge is finished with a knitted-on edging.

I’m very happy to introduce my new design ‘Lin sweater’ finally. It’s up on knit. purl S/S issue.

Slipper Knit Along

Do you know the word room-shoes? Maybe it’s weird word if you are a Canadian or Native speaker in English. It means indoor slipper. I’m sure Japanese craft publisher create this word like pet-tel(Hotel for pet). Many Japanese craft books are translated in Korean language. Room shoes isn’t strange word anymore within Korean crafters. Anyway, Soel-ryu(She’s a Korean blogger) suggested Room shoes KAL two weeks ago. I’m so happy to get a chance to join the KAL group and I finished knitting a pair of ‘Room shoes’ this afternoon. Deadline is 12 December on GMT +9. It’s very clever and easy pattern. But I found a tiny mini errata. So, I will let her know. My sister’s visiting me. She just stay with me 5 nights and 6 days. But, She stopped over a couple months ago when she fly to Peru and we spend few days together. I’m very happy to see her again. Also, she’s model for room shoes and It will be hers.

Leftie

Finally I finished knit Leftie. It’s done on Friday night and I did wear Saturday night. There are bucket list I want to do within end of this year. Finish Lefite was a #3 of my list. I wanted to take some pictures at the backyard but I had to work this evening and it’s getting dark so early these days. I put this on the living room floor. It’s slightly larger then original Leftie. Maybe It’s because I used one size larger needle than designer.

It isn’t easy to take selfie. I tried few times standing beside of wall. I bleached my hair almost 3 weeks ago. Birthday treat! I wanted to get a hair style just like one of X-men character Rouge. Maybe bleached spot is too large.
