D’Arcy asked me canned veggies from my garden for Zombie apocalypse. 🙂 I don’t think it’s serous. We just like the show ‘Walking Dead’. I want to make it but have no idea cause I never have been this. I got some help from google. But, I’m kind of person to feel comfortable with book. So, I bought a book about canning. Those orange and red tomatoes from my garden. Step by step, I followed the direction from book. These are my first three bottle of canned tomatoes.

This beautiful fruits are all from my garden. Orange and red tomatoes, very sweet Korean melon, Japanese egg plants and mini bell pepper, hot pepper and zucchini. Cucumbers are not good this year. I didn’t know cucumber beetles are harmed. I will switch growing spot next year.  

다아시가 병을 잔뜩 사와서 좀비 이포클립스에 대비해 병조림을 하자고 했을때는 그냥 농담이려니 있습니다. 우리는 워킹데드를 열심히 보고 있는 팬이거든요. 만들고는 싶었지만 어떻게 할지 몰라서 구글링을 했습니다. 아무래도 저는 책을 선호하는 타입이라서 이참에 책도 한권 사버렸어요. 그렇게 해서 생애 처음으로 토마토 병조림 3개를 만들었어요. 책에서 지시하는대로 하나하나 따라하면서 만들어낸 생애 첫 병조림입니다.

사진에 보이는 예쁜 열매들은 모두 베지가든에서 마지막 갈무리로 수확한 것들이예요. 미니벨 페퍼가 빨갛게 예쁘지요? 참외도 꽤 잘된것 같고… 고추류는 원래 빨갛게 열매가 달리는 줄 알았는데 이번에 겪어보고서야 색이 나중에 변한다는걸 알게 되었어요. 올핸 오이의 작황이 그닥 좋지 않습니다. 큐컴버비틀이 극성이었거든요. 그녀석들이 해충인줄 모르고 그냥 뒀더니 오이 5그루중 4그루가 열매를 두세개만 맺은뒤 죽어 버렸어요. 내년엔 작물의 뮈치도 좀 바꾸고 경험을 바탕으로 좀더 공을 들여볼까 합니다.

The weather is bit strange this year. Winter was so cold and long. I lost 70% of seedlings on late May through early June. But some of them are survived and showed me beautiful fruits.
My strawberries are very sweet. Just there are too many ants. Every evening, I’m checking how many berries I could harvest tomorrow. Always I could find small bite marks next day. Sometimes, few ants are still eating my berries. I don’t mind share with them. But, I’m not happy that I have to return with nothing.
So, I’m looking for solutions. I will plant mint next year. But I should be very careful. Roots of mint so strong and will cover all underground of my veggie bed.

I think chive flowers are so pretty. Little individual flowers are look like tiny stars. Cut them and put the vase on the dining table…It was mistake. We went to out to shopping couple hours. Come back and opened the door, chive smell covered all over the dining room and kitchen. Ah…
They are such a nice food ingredients but it wasn’t good idea for bouquet. Please don’t make mistake like me. 🙂

약 열흘전에 수확한 야채들 모음입니다. 올해의 날씨는 참으로 이상스러워서 겨울이 유난히 길고도 추웠습니다. 5월 말에서 6월 초에 서리가 내려 모종의 70%를 잃어야 했어요.  하지면 몇몇 아이들은 살아 남아서 요즘 열매를 속속 보여주고 있습니다.  특히 기대하고 자랑하고 싶었던 것은 딸기. 정말이 달고 맛있습니다. 문제는 베지베드의 개미들이예요. 매일 오후 상태를 확인하고 내일쯤 수확을 해야지 하고 기대를 합니다. 다음날이면 대부분의 딸기에 물은 자국들이 나있고 또 몇몇 개미들이 붙어서 정신없이 딸기를 먹고 있는게 보여요. 어느정도 나눠 먹는거야 그럴수 있다지만 늘 기대치에 못비치는 초라한 갯수를 보면 그닥 행복하지는 않습니다. 해결책이 없나 수소문을 했는데 개미가 민트를 싫어 한다고 하네요. 딸기 포기 근처에 민트를 심어두면 개미가 얼씬도 안한대요. 하지만 민트는 뿌리가 확 퍼지는 성질이 있어서 자칫 하다가는 땅아래 온통 민트 뿌리가 퍼져 버릴수 있다고 합니다. 내년엔 꼭 방법을 찾아서 민트를 심어야 겠어요.

바구니에 담긴 딸기는 전체 딸기의 1/5정도만 수확한 거예요. 멀쩡한게 얼마 남아 있지 않더군요. 그래도 가게에서 파는 300g 팩에 가득 차는 정도는 됩니다. 동네 종묘사에서 산 레몬 향기가 난다는 레몬오이. 사진엔 두개지만 이후에 10개정도 더 수확해서 이전에 책을 주신 Zenn아주머니게 좀 드렸어요. 친구가 보내준 애호박씨앗도 결실을 맺었고, 오래묵어 발아가 될까? 했던 버터넛 스쿼시도 수확. 두개가 지금 자라는 중이구요 깻잎도 잔뜩! 토마토랑 청양고추!(사랑하는 효정! 정말 고마워! 완전 청양고추 풍년이댜! ) 🙂

부추나 파의 꽃이 생각보다 꽤 예쁘더라구요. 자그마한 한송이 한송이가 선명한 별처럼 벌어지는데 냉큼 꺽어서 꽃병에 꽂아 뒀지요. 그리고 두시간정도 읍내에가 장을 보고 돌아 왔어요. 문을 열었는데 집안가득 퍼지는 파랑 양파랑 마늘이 섞인것 같은 묘한 냄새.  훌륭한 음식재료이긴 하지만 부추나 파꽃으로 꽃다발을 만들지 않는건 다 이유가 있어서 였어요.  여러분들은 저같은 실수 하지 마세요. 냄새 사라지는데 반나절이 넘게 걸렸답니다.
